Prairie Village’s 5th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Action & Celebration event honors the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. under the theme “I Have a Dream: Loving Democracy.”
This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Christal E. Watson, Mayor/CEO of the Wyandotte County Unified Government and the first Black woman to serve in this role. Mayor Watson’s leadership and commitment to community, equity, and public service embody the spirit of Dr. King’s vision for justice and democratic engagement.
The gathering invites neighbors to reflect together on what it means to love our neighbors, practice hospitality, and engage our democratic values with respect and compassion. Attendees will leave with practical ways to listen well, speak up thoughtfully, and take meaningful action in their community.
