Ruamahanga Restoration Trust is supporting a walk at Hāpua Farm for the Wairarapa Walking Festival on 22 November. Led by Michael Birch, a trustee of the Ruamahanga Restoration Trust, the walk begins on the farm’s airstrip, offering beautiful views of the Tararua Ranges before descending through farm tracks, open paddocks, and bush trails.
Along the way, explore wetlands created by large landslides 11,000–12,000 years ago, and continue east to two protected QEII covenant areas of native bush. Here, you’ll encounter towering totara, matai, and kahikatea, as well as abundant birdlife including kererū and tūī. Last year's participants had rave reviews of this walk!
