About this Event
One of the biggest misconceptions in inner child and personal development work is that trauma is a big catastrophic event. The Holistic Psychologist, Dr. Nicole Pera explains childhood trauma as the following circumstances:
- A parent denying your reality
- Not being seen or heard
- A parent vicariously living through a child
- Being told you can't experience certain emotions
- A parent who overcompensated from what was missing in their childhood
- A parent who focuses on appearance
- A parent who cannot emotional regulate
Trauma - big or small - can lead to the following behaviors:
- People pleasing
- Fear of abandonment
- Chronic apologizing
- Survival mode: hyper-vigilant nervous system responses
- Unconscious desire to fix, save, rescue or be chosen
- Betrayal of own needs
- Living as a false self
As we endure these events and behaviors in excess, we can develop what is called "The Trauma Brain."
