In this presentation, entomologist Dr. Clyde Sorenson will introduce the substantial diversity of fireflies and other glowing insects, their ecology, and their conservation.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Clyde Sorenson is an Alumni Association Distinguished Undergraduate Professor of Entomology at North Carolina State University. He teaches several courses at NCSU including his undergrad Insects and People and the graduate course, Insect Ecology. Dr. Sorenson has conducted research on the ecology and management of agricultural pests and, more recently, on the ecology of insects associated with North Carolina forest systems, especially those found in longleaf systems. He lives in Clayton with his wife Leeann, two chocolate labs, three cats, and a 40 year old blue-fronted Amazon parrot named Floyd.
