Enjoy a guided tour of this tranquil walled garden follows a quadrant design influenced by original drawings dating back to 1874.Hutton Wandesley Walled Garden was started in March 2022 with the hard landscaping and the initial layout of the garden and paths. The garden has been designed with a strong influence from the original drawings dating back to 1874 when Edward York bought the Estate. The drawings show a quadrant design which Sasha York chose to honour and follow.
There are four main areas to the garden including a cutting garden full of narcissi, tulips & alliums followed by roses in June and dahlias in August; a parterre garden planted with box plants that frame swathes of colourful Verbena bonariensis, Astrantia ‘Florence’ and Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’; a lawn area for recreational space; and a perennial meadow garden. Planting in the latter includes Calamagrostis acut. ‘Karl Foerster’, Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea pallida, Eupatorium maculatum, Mollinia caerulus ‘Heidebraut’, Mollinia arundinacea and Stipa tenuissima ‘Pony Tails’.
Tickets £80pp, including lunch.
