Join the Dorchester County Emergency Management Department on Saturday, June 19, for the 8th Annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo in the parking lot of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store located at 9600 Dorchester Road, in the City of North Charleston.The pet-friendly, rain or shine, expo will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The expo will include a variety of exhibitors to engage all ages. Exhibitors will include representatives from the National Weather Service, Allstate Insurance, various emergency services to include local fire, EMS, and law enforcement departments, and many more.
Families are welcome to attend this free event which will feature emergency equipment tours, hurricane-themed activities, and give-a-ways.
The expo will promote hurricane readiness, safety, and all-hazards preparedness. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the many services and resources available before, during, and after a hurricane.
In preparation for hurricane season, it is important residents begin preparing now before storms threaten the area. Families should know their hurricane evacuation zone, restock their disaster supply kit, and have a plan for evacuation that includes their pets. Residents are encouraged to visit www.DorchesterCountySC.Gov/EMD to locate their Hurricane Evacuation Zone.
