Upcoming Poultry Amnesty and Rehoming Day in collaboration with Huon Agricultural Society is be held on-site at Ranelagh Recreation Grounds , entry via Charlotte Street on Saturday 13 September 2025 from 10 am til 12 noon.Members of the public are encouraged to surrender unwanted or excess poultry at a Poultry Amnesty in their area in lieu of them ending up in the local environment. All poultry varieties accepted - chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, quail, guinea fowl etc.
If you wish to surrender a large number of birds at the Poultry Amnesty, please email the Club ahead of time. There are many reasons for surrendering, and Club members provide non-judgemental assistance on the day.
Donations to STPC Inc are appreciated for the provision of this community service and an individual receipt will be provided for all donations made at the event.
Surrendering is final and once the surrenderer transfers their bird/s to STPC Inc, all ownership and rights are relinquished. All birds will be evaluated by STPC Inc members once the surrenderer has departed. All birds surrendered are evaluated by Club members, for health, disease or injury.
Following evaluation, some birds will normally be suitable for rehoming on the day - if you wish to provide a home to some birds, please arrive around 10am start time so that you can see which birds are surrendered.
All birds being surrendered must travel to the Poultry Amnesty in suitable crates/containers. If wishing to rehome birds, a suitable crate/container must be used.
