The full moon in October is known as the Hunter's Moon, which is a reference to the hunting season that takes place before winter. The moon's name comes from the time of year when game is fattened up for the winter, and the fields have been reaped, making it easier for hunters to see animals.
October's full moon will appear slightly larger than normal, known as a supermoon. Supermoons occur when the full moon coincides with the moon being at the point in its orbit within 90% of its closest approach to Earth, called Perigee. October's supermoon will be the closest supermoon of the year!!
The Hunter's Moon provides a particularly poignant time for ancestor veneration, accentuated by its proximity to Samhain when the veil between our world and the spirit realm is at its thinnest, encouraging us to reflect on what's passed while preparing for new experiences and transformations.
During this class, Erin will lead you through a guided meditation with breath work followed by the traditional Yin class.
