The Community Sailing Program has teamed up with the City of Winter Park, Florida to provide a sailing program that is focused on fun and safety. Join us for an exciting course covering all the basics of sailing. Upon completion, you will have the skill and knowledge to rig and sail a small boat on your own and will receive the Community Sailing Program Small Boat certification.
Prerequisites:
- Sailing is a physical sport. Your training will include being seated on a one-foot high bench seat, moving from one side of the boat to the other, righting a capsized boat and climbing into the boats from the water. For your own safety, we require the following as a minimum for your ability to participate. You should be able to complete 5 standing squats, 2 knee push-ups, and swim 100 feet while wearing a PFD(lifejacket). If you have any orthopedic issues, epsecially with your knees, or other health problems, please contact us before registering.
- You will need to bring your own Personal Flotation Device, also known as a Life Jacket. We recommend a coast guard Type III PFD.
