About this Event
Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) invites media, elected officials, and community members to attend a press conference at the CAPK Food Bank to launch Hunger Action Month, a county-wide campaign dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action to end hunger.
This press conference will highlight the vital role the CAPK Food Bank plays in combating food insecurity across Kern County. In 2024 alone, the CAPK Food Bank distributed over 22 million pounds of food, averaging nearly 2 million pounds each month, and recorded more than 200,000 community engagements with Kern County residents seeking nutritional support.
Throughout September, CAPK has several impactful events planned to connect with the community and raise critical support, including:
Feed Kern Now Food Drive – A long-standing partnership with KGET-TV to collect non-perishable food donations and support families in need.
Feed the Need at the Kern County Fair – A large-scale food drive inviting fairgoers to contribute and be part of the solution, where 6 cans gets you in for free!
These events offer an opportunity for the community to come together, raise awareness, and support local families facing food insecurity.
