The Hungarikon Collection of Tamás Kárpáti – journalist, editor, publisher, writer, and art collector – now awaits visitors in Belgium The collection has toured half of Europe, appeared at the London Olympics and the Milan World Expo. The Hungarikon is a collection of nearly 200 relics belonging to famous Hungarians, brought to life through the collaboration of exceptional visual artists. The initiative embodies the unity of value preservation, value safeguarding, and value creation.
Among the highlights of the collection are a painting made from the bow tie of an Oscar-winning film director, the kiln shovel of the founder of the world-renowned Zsolnay porcelain factory, the pipette of Nobel Prize-winning Katalin Karikó, the jersey of the only Hungarian Ballon d'Or winner Flórián Albert, relics brought back from space by Hungarian astronauts, the Wimbledon-winning tennis racket of Balázs Taróczy, the horseshoe of the best Hungarian racehorse, and the boots of the most famous Hungarian jockey – all transformed into sculptures, paintings, and installations by Hungary’s finest artists.
