In his final film, Humphrey Bogart stars as Eddie Willis, a down-on-his-luck sportswriter hired by shady fight promoter Nick Benko (Rod Steiger) to promote his latest find, a new boxing phenom from Argentina. As he takes the promising but naive fighter under his wing he finds himself navigating a morally dubious path that forces him to confront the harsh realities of the sport. Filmed on location in NYC, LA, Vegas, and Chicago, director Mark Robson brilliantly captures the dark, gritty world of a boxer. (1956, 109 mins)
