We'll utilize both the single-track off-road bicycle trail (built & maintained by SWAMP Mountain Bike Club) and the marked hiking trail which is mostly a double track/fire road. The route will be under a mix of sun and shade, through pine flatwoods, oak hammocks and passing by cypress ponds. We'll take a short break around the 3-mile mark. The last leg of our hike we'll stop by the bird blind and take a peek at Grassy Lake. From here, a short distance away, we'll walk through the historic McNeil Homestead, before concluding our journey. \\\If conditions are dry there can be short sections on the double track that can be sandy\\\
Trailhead: Parking Lot 2 and meet by the picnic table. There are no entrance fees and there are restrooms available. We start walking at 8:30a so, please get there in enough time to gear up. Ending time is an approximate. If you're in a hurry or on a time constraint. Then, this hike is not for you.
Please have adequate hydration (no hydration...no(http://hydration...no) hike...no(http://hike...no) exceptions). Other suggested items: snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, sturdy hiking boots/shoes, good hat, insect repellant, ground cloth for sitting, & binoculars.
