About this Event
How can we use paint and pencil to express motion and movement? Join New Yorker cover artist Jenny Kroik and Annie Novak of the American Bird Conservancy on a walk through New York City's beautiful Fort Tyron Park's Heather Garden in search of Ruby-throated hummingbirds. Learn tips for spotting this North American jewel, and best practices for capturing their zesty vigor in your art.
Learn more about New York City's only hummingbird and its incredible migration from Annie, as we keep an eye out for red-tailed hawks, peregrine falcons, Baltimore orioles, Carolina wrens, early-season warblers, nighthawks, chimney swifts, and more.
Jenny will lead a watercolor demonstration, discussing various ways in which we can capture birds' fleeting movements and speed. Jenny, a Fort Tyron regular, will share her favorite views and birding spots.
Show your support of hummingbirds across the Americas with a donation to the American Bird Conservancy!
