Every year, the Nature Center puts out seven hummingbird feeders so that the hummingbirds have a constant source of nectar to return to each year. In August, we have a Hummingbird Festival where we will trap these hummingbirds, measure them, band them, and then release them back into the wild! This data supports the Southeastern Avian Research group and allows them to see where these hummingbirds go! -The care of our feeders is a big part of making sure these hummingbirds stay healthy! We will take down all feeders, make new nectar for them, and hang them back up! Afterwards, stick around, borrow some binoculars, and watch the hummingbirds drink the nectar you made!
This volunteer opportunity is for those 8 and older.
