In his talk, "Path of Miracles: Music for Healing", Francom will share insights from his work with Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles, a 60-minute a cappella choral piece that follows the sacred Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in northern Spain. After performing the piece in 2017 and 2022, Francom led ISU students on their own 500-mile pilgrimage through Spain, where they performed for hundreds of pilgrims from around the world. His talk will reflect on those experiences and the healing power of music that unites people across cultures.
Hymes will discuss "Expanding the Theatrical Canon: Underrepresented Voices from Early Modern to Today," which examines efforts to broaden the traditional theatre canon by recognizing playwrights whose works have historically been overlooked. Drawing on her experience with the Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre’s Expand the Canon initiative, Hymes will highlight how reimagining whose voices are included in the theatrical tradition can open new creative possibilities for artists, educators, and audiences alike.
