About this Event

Join us for Human Trafficking Essentials for Law Enforcement, a specialized training designed to equip law enforcement officers with the skills to identify and investigate human trafficking effectively. This course covers recognizing key signs, understanding different forms of trafficking, and exploring a strategic, law enforcement-focused approach to hold perpetrators accountable.

The training also emphasizes collaboration with the WV Human Trafficking Task Force and other multidisciplinary teams to enhance investigations and improve overall response efforts.


Training Goals:

  1. Equip officers to recognize potential human trafficking during routine duties.
  2. Increase understanding of specific trafficking forms, including drug-facilitated and familial trafficking.
  3. Enhance investigative skills using victim-centered approaches.
  4. Foster collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and victim advocates.


Key Objectives:

  • Identify human trafficking indicators in everyday police work.
  • Understand how drug-facilitated and familial trafficking operate.
  • Recognize signs of trauma bonding and PTSD in victims.
  • Apply empathy-based methods for victim interaction.
  • Learn about the WV Human Trafficking Task Force and its investigative support.
  • Understand the role of multidisciplinary teams and victim advocates.
  • Introduce the Human Trafficking Services Model for effective case support.
  • Explore a FBI case study to learn investigation strategies.

This training will be duplicated on two specific dates to accommidate Law Enforcement work shifts.

Date: January 29, 2025 Time: 1:00pm - 5:00pm
