About this Event

Join René Cassin for “Human Rights – A Moral Compass,” a unique celebration marking the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights, Human Rights Day, and the 25th anniversary of the Human Rights Act. This inspiring event explores the deep Jewish roots of the modern human rights framework. Featuring a dynamic panel of speakers, including leading Jewish human rights advocates, discussion and reflection, we will honour the legacy of Monsieur René Cassin and examine how human rights continue to support marginalised communities today.

Chair: Francesca Klug OBE

Professor Francesca Klug is a Visiting Professor at LSE Human Rights, where she was formerly Director of the Human Rights Futures Project. As a Senior Research Fellow at King's College London Law School, she advised the Government on devising and implementing the 1998 Human Rights Act, subsequently working with senior ministers on human rights and constitutional reform. She was a Commissioner on the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) from 2006-9. Francesca is also a member of René Cassin's Advisory Board.
