HUIJUN LU | Fathoming FrequenciesOficina de Field Recording

No meio do burburinho da agitação urbana, como podemos usar a audição como ferramenta para refletir sobre o modo como o ruído afeta o nosso ambiente quotidiano? Orientada por esta questão, a artista residente Huijun Lu convida os participantes a sintonizar e capturar gravações de campo do ruido na e à volta da Zaratan - seja o sussurro das folhas ou o barulho da construção nas proximidades.
O workshop também introduzirá a prática da Deep Listening ("Escuta Profunda") e como os artistas criam e utilizam as gravações de campo nas suas obras.
O workshop será realizado em inglês. É necessário que os participantes tragam um smartphone com uma aplicação de gravação de som.

BIO: Nascido de desenhos diagramáticos, o trabalho de Huijun Lu explora a interseção entre arte, música, engenharia e computação. Ao concretizar as obras, a artista trata os materiais como objetos de utilidade e fascínio. Para animar esses materiais, Lu constrói circuitos para criar arranjos de motores em movimento; contraindo-se e gesticulando pelo espaço, dispersando materiais para criar som ou reagindo à presença humana. Cada movimento ou som é concebido considerando propriedades da música como ritmo, pausa, timbre e tom. Field Recording Workshop

In the buzz of urban commotion, how can we use listening as a tool to consider the ways in which noise impacts our everyday environment? Guided by this question, artist-in-residency Huijun Lu invites participants to tune into and capture field recordings of noise in and around Zaratan — be it the rustle of leaves or the thud of nearby construction.
The workshop will also introduce the practice of Deep Listening and how artists create and utilise field recordings in their works.
The workshop will be held in english. Participants are required to bring a smartphone with a sound recording application.

BIO: Born from diagrammatic drawings, Huijun Lu's works explore the intersection between art, music, engineering and computing. In actualising the works, the artist treats materials as objects of utility and fascination. To enliven these materials, Lu builds circuits to create arrays of moving motors; twitching and gesturing through space, dispersing materials to create sound or reacting to human presence. Each movement or sound is devised by considering properties of music such as rhythm, rest, timbre and tone.
