Hudson Valley Sally with Mario Cancel-Bigay and Ruben Gonzalez, with special guest- Patrick Stanfield JonesHudson Valley Sally has been singing together as a group since 2012. They originally met as members of the Walkabout Clearwater Chorus. Hudson Valley Sally currently consists of David Tarlo, Terry Colliton and Laurie Siegel.
David Tarlo was a founding member (with Caryl Towner and David Bernz) of the group Stone Soup who performed at concerts and many union and activist events. They produced the highly regarded CD River of Life. Along with Bruce Springsteen, Dar Williams , Tom Morello and Emmylou Harris, David Contributed vocals to the 2012 Pete Seeger, Lorre Wyatt album, A More Perfect Union, and the Grammy Winning Pete Seeger CD, Pete at 89.
Terry Colliton has been singing in school and church choirs since childhood and had her first major performance at Kennedy Center when she was in the fifth grade. Terry served a s the music coordinator for Walkabout from 2010 to 2014. Terry now also sings with the Stonewall Chorale, the Nation’s firstLBGTQ+ choir. An educator and activist, Terry finds joy in any action that might make the world a more welcoming place for everyone.
Laurie Siegel - was raised in a musical family, making her stage debut at age 3 performing a piano piece in her music teacher/grandfather’s student recital. She began singing together with her brother, Peter Siegel as a folk duo in the 1990s. In 1992, while working aboard the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, the sibling team was joined by Creek Iversen. The trio, known as the Harmonious Hogchokers performed throughout the 1990’s around the Hudson Valley. Like David Tarlo , Laurie contributed vocals to the Pete Seeger-Lorre Wyatt album, A More Perfect Union, and the Grammy Winning Pete Seeger CD, Pete at 89. Currently, when not Sally-ing, Laurie is also performing as a duo with her partner, Patrick Stanfield Jones and in a trio with Karen Brooks and Melissa Ortquist known as the Trouble Sisters.
Ruben Gongalez – Originally from Argentina, Ruben performs his own idiosyncratic world-beat compositions inviting audiences to listen, to move, to sing along, and to think. Rubén González was invited by trailblazer composer Phillip Glass to perform in his 75th birthday celebration at the Tune-In Music Festival due to its “musical ingenuity” and as “an example of new directions in music”.
Mario Cancel-Bigay- Mario is a Ethnomusicologist, singer-songwriter, poet, translator and an expert of the Puerto Rican cuatro, Puerto Rico’s national guitar. Mario earned a Ph.D in Ethnomusicology in the Department at Music at Columbia University.
Patrick Stanfield Jones – Patrick’s music is a mix of rock, jazz, folk, and blues. He has worked with the Isley Brothers, Gene Clark of the Byrds, Imelda Staunton, Whitney Houston, and Buddy Miles. Patrick has performed the music of Ned Rorem’s song cycle Songs of Sadness, and Romeo and Juliet at Merkin recital hall in Manhattan and has played on more than 20 albums.
