The Hudson River Environmental Society will be honoring the following two dedicated professionals for their commitment to better understand the natural environments of the Hudson River Estuary.
Outstanding Environmental Researcher Award – Amanda Higgs, Fisheries Biologist, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation/Cornell University. Amanda has worked at DEC for more than two decades and leads the NYSDEC research and monitoring program on Atlantic sturgeon. It is because of her outstanding dedication and leadership in conducting this research that HRES is awarding Amanda with the 2026 Outstanding Researcher Award.
Outstanding Practitioner Award – James Lodge, Director of Environmental Programs, Hudson River Foundation. As the Director of Environmental Programs at the Hudson River Foundation. Jim manages the Foundation’s research and environmental benefit programs and guides the Foundation’s engagement in ongoing and emerging science and policy issues. HRES is awarding Jim with the 2026 Outstanding Practitioner Award for his dedication and leadership in developing and managing the Hudson River Lower Foodweb Monitoring Program currently being implemented by the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies.
