MORE ABOUT THE OPERA, MURASAKI'S MOON, CREATED BY COMPOSER MICHI WIANCKO AND LIBRETTIST DEBORAH BREVOORT: The Tale of the Genji is considered the world's first novel and it was written by Lady Murasaki, an 11th century lady-in-waiting at the Imperial Court. This extraordinary opera explores the conflicts of Lady Murasaki as she navigates to find her place in her society and her story's creation. Japanese instrumentation and iconic characters make "Murasaki's Moon" a beautiful and touching experience. Our 11-century heroine faces questions not unlike those faced by many of us in the twenty-first century. An enlightening experience, with moving music and singing.
