Join Day One Only or Attend Both Days

Learn how to use ultrasound as an effective and non-invasive modality to assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for various musculoskeletal conditions in the upper and lower extremities. The one-day course option will cover basic concepts of diagnostic musculoskeletal sonography and progress to assessment of pathology on sonographic images. Target Audience | This activity is targeted to radiologists, sports medicine physicians and surgeons, physiatrists, and sonographers. Residents, fellows, and medical students may also benefit from this activity.

Learning Objectives | Hospital for Special Surgery Professional Education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify and interpret the musculoskeletal structures in the upper and lower extremities that can be visualized and effectively assessed under ultrasound.
  • Explain basic concepts of diagnostic musculoskeletal sonography, such as appearance of bone, muscle, tendon, ligament, and nerves.
  • Describe and assess pathology on sonographic images pertaining to musculoskeletal structures.
  • Recognize the array of musculoskeletal procedures and interventions that can be performed under ultrasound guidance for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the upper and lower extremities.

Accreditation and Credit Designation

Hospital for Special Surgery is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Hospital for Special Surgery designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The 2-Day Course is designated for 12.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
