The Harrogate Society of Magicians are proud to present their final lecture of 2024, from the one and only Mark Lee MMC of Merlins of Wakefield!Mark has been deeply involved in the world of magic all of his life and has been collecting magic props for over forty years. As a result he has amassed a huge collection of magical apparatus (over 3,000 pieces apparently!) including many items that are rare collectibles and are never usually seen in public.
It is true to say that vintage and collectible magic props hold a special allure for Mark. These incredible props not only fascinate him, by their design/construction and methods, but also by the fact that they tell the story of the art of magic throughout the ages.
In his ‘Conjuring Contraptions, Old & New’ lecture you will get the chance to delve into his fascinating collection and see an array of different types of effects, from various different ages, craftsmen and inventors. The one common factor connecting all of the pieces that Mark will demonstrate (and also explain!) is their ingenious methods. Some are clever gadgets, some are mechanical masterpieces and some are just downright bizarre!
This is only the second time that Mark will be presenting this spellbinding lecture, so if you are a fan of magical props, clever devices, or collectibles, or if you are simply interested in how magic has evolved over the years, to where we are today, then why not join us at 8pm on Wednesday 27th November at the Pannal Village Hall (Station Rd, Pannal, Harrogate HG3 1JJ) for a lecture that will linger long in your memory!
8pm - 10pm, Doors open 7:30pm. Magicians only. £10 entry for visiting magicians. £5 entry for members of affiliated magic circles and societies.
