About this Event
In this series of three linked events, we will work with participants to explore and support each other in developing practical approaches, and maximising HR’s role in organisational effectiveness. This will be done through three lenses: culture, change management, and supporting line managers. All are interrelated, and are reflected as themes in the CIPD Report.
Session 1 – HR and Culture
The significant economic and societal pressures of the day are making increasing numbers view work as a transactional activity rather than something more meaningful. This has implications for discretionary effort and retention.
These pressures are also impacting on our organisations, and the expectations of stakeholders. Performance and the bottom line is under increasing pressure also, which risks the prioritisation of profit over people.
HR has a key role to play as the custodians of culture, but people professionals are not responsible for it. As a result, how HR professionals choose to be in their organisations is really important.
This session will explore the stances that HR can take to ensure that culture supports both the needs of the organisation, and the individuals in it.
This supports the following elements of the CIPD Profession Map:
- Core knowledge – Culture and behaviour
- Core behaviours – Ethical practice / Professional courage and influence
- Specialist knowledge – Employee experience
