The Museum will have a special elder guest on February 3, 2026. Starting at 4PM to 6 PM. Lupita McClanahan will present her stories. The event is free and open to the public. She is touring Central Oregon and visiting libraries, schools, and our Museum is one of her stops. She wishes to meet other elders. She wants to teach the young people of our resilience.
Lupita will share her life lessons and stories. She served as a US Parks Ranger in Canyon de Chelly. Canyon de Chelly is home to Diné families who live, raise livestock, and tend to farmland in the canyons. People have lived in the canyons for nearly 5,000 years, which is longer than anyone has lived continuously on the Colorado Plateau. In this place called Tsegi, their homes and images tell us their stories. Today, the park and the Navajo Nation work together to manage the rich cultural and natural resources.
