Walker's Jazz Club is proud to present the duo of Howard Levy and Eugene Friesen. The two Grammy-winning musicians will be playing a set of originals and favorites spanning the worlds of jazz, classical, Brazilian, and Central and Middle Eastern music the two artists are known for.
Howard Levy, two-time Grammy Award Winner is an acknowledged master of the diatonic harmonica, a superb pianist, innovative composer, educator and producer. At home in many musical styles, he is a favorite with audiences worldwide and a recording artist sought after by Kenny Loggins, Dolly Parton, Paquito D’Rivera, Styx, Donald Fagen, Paul Simon, and many appearances with Garrison Keillor on "A Prairie Home Companion." He performs regularly with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Trio Globo, and his own Howard Levy 4.
Four-time Grammy Award-winner Eugene Friesen is active internationally as a cellist, composer, conductor and teacher. His unique original repertoire and improvisational style has been featured in concerts internationally with the Paul Winter Consort, and with Trio Globo (Howard Levy, Glen Velez and Friesen). Eugene has been featured on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” has recorded with artists as diverse as Renée Fleming, Dream Theater, Will Ackerman, and Dar Williams, and is a pioneer in the teaching of improvisation to classically-trained musicians.
