Want to write funny?Humour can be deeply subjective, but no matter what makes you laugh, you can learn to inject more of it into your writing and make your readers laugh, too. During this workshop, Catherine Robertson will share her tips for writing your own brand of funny. Catherine says her first novel was only acquired after she managed to make it (her publisher’s words) “much, much funnier”. Now she has twelve humorous fiction novels and novellas to her name. Catherine says she is not a natural plotter, so focuses on crafting lively dialogue with humour and interesting, relatable characters to create books that make the reader feel. Amongst her long list of achievements, Catherine is a book reviewer, including for RNZ, has been on the NZ Book Awards Trust, was a writer in residence at Victoria University, and has taught creative writing in prisons.
