About this Event
The intersection of grief and the holidays can be overwhelming, but our senses hold powerful keys to memory. In this 60-minute interactive workshop, grief coach and author Shelby Forsythia will guide parents and caregivers in using the five senses to honor loved ones who have died—through music, food, movies, scents, and more. Together, we’ll explore simple, meaningful ways to weave sense-based traditions into the holidays and beyond, creating lasting connections for children, teens, and families.
You'll learn:
- How to use your five senses to call forward memories of loved ones
- How to involve your kids, teens, and other family members in creating positive grief-related traditions
- What to do when painful memories overshadow happy ones
- How to tailor holiday traditions based on your energy levels
- What to do when everyone's needs differ
You'll come away with practical, grounded tools for navigating holiday grief, making meaningful memories with your family, and ensuring your loved one doesn't get lost in the busyness of the season.
$10 per person. Cost includes admission, refreshments, and a special takeaway. Registration in advance is required.
About The Speaker:
Shelby Forsythia (she/her) is a grief coach, author, and podcast host. In 2020, she founded Life After Loss Academy, an online course and community that has helped dozens of grievers grow and find their way after death, divorce, diagnosis, and other major life transitions.
Following her mother’s death in 2013, Shelby began calling herself a “student of grief” and now devotes her days to reading, writing, and speaking about loss. Through a combination of mindfulness tools and intuitive, open-ended questions, she guides her clients to welcome grief as a teacher and create meaningful lives that honor and include the heartbreaks they’ve faced.
