Jaime Pawelek is the owner of Buzzworthy Botanicals, a nursery specializing in
medicinal herbs, native wildflowers and edibles. She is also a native bee biologist,
environmental educator, and plant nerd. She studied and worked in the Urban Bee Lab
at UC Berkeley for several years where she learned about the close relationships of
native bees and plants. Jaime is currently part of an NSF grant which gives community
college students at minority serving institutions access to paid research experience
through conducting bee surveys on college campuses. She also studied Western
Herbalism in CA and is currently working at the Florida School of Holistic Living as their
garden and office manager, maintaining the schools’ two herb gardens, and teaching
medicine making classes.
