Tuition: $30, Materials: $7
Reading music can be intimidating--what do all the symbols and lines really mean? Learning music is like learning a language; join local musician and band teacher Karl Kubiak as he leads a lecture style class with exercises and group discussions to acquaint students with the wonderful world of written music.
Students will learn how to read rhythms, pitches, and chords, as well as the basics of how to write their own music. This introductory class is a great foundation in exploring how to create music to play or perform on your own and with other musicians. This class is designed to be approachable for complete novices with no experience in reading or playing music, although those with some experience (or those who have taken some time away from reading/playing music and need a refresher) are welcome as well.
