About this Event

BIPC North East have teamed up with North Tyneside Council’s Business Factory to help support local enterprises who sell, or would like to sell, their products via market events or pop-ups to increase sales and boost their brand awareness.

Delivered by BIPC North East's Retail Expert, Karen Williamson, this informative session is designed to help sellers and market traders to grow their sales as well as how to plan and prepare for key seasonal sales peaks including Christmas.


In this session, attendees will:


  • Tap into need-to-know advice on preparing for the festive season from BIPC North East’s Retail Expert Karen Williamson. Using her extensive experience in the retail world and a variety of takeaway materials and resources, Karen will demonstrate how local businesses can effectively plan, prepare, and execute peak sale periods with precision.

As part of the Wallsend Town & High Streets Programme, there is an exclusive opportunity for traders and small businesses in North Tyneside to potentially occupy an empty shop unit located within the heart of Wallsend’s Forum Shopping Centre across a 2 week period on the below dates. Who should come along to event?

Whilst the Wallsend Town & High Streets Programme Pop Up Stall Opportunity is aimed towards SMEs based in North Tyneside we do warmly welcome any business based within Newcastle or Northumberland business community to come along to either learn new skills or to brush up on their existing knowledge as well as connect with other businesses .



This event is in partnership with The Business & IP Centre North East and The Business Factory. and is funded through both the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Town & High Streets Fund. Supported by Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Sunderland and South Tyneside Councils and North East Combined Authority ( NECA). This event is also part of the Wallsend Town & High Streets Programme.

Retail Expert, Karen Williamson


Karen has nearly 40 years of retail knowledge to share. Having worked in many large high street brands and spent many years working with large scale teams and with customers at the heart of each interaction, Karen progressed to Global Operations for a multibillion high street retailer. After leaving the corporate world, Karen has supported many SMEs and smaller retail businesses to remove the overwhelm and give lots of “little leg up’s” in the Northeast. She takes great pride in making a difference across a broad base of subjects in retail.

Karen has developed many sales strategies and can support you on your journey. Selling your products direct to a customer or selling your products to a wholesaler requires different skills, Karen will support this and mentor your progress.

Karen can very quickly help you to identify the challenges and potential opportunities that will make a difference to your sales and profit. Karen works with you as your critical friend to overcome the barriers to growth and actions that are required. A diagnostic overview will support the understanding of trading performance, future plans, and actions to move forward and setting your business up for the future.
