About this Event
With Sharlene Hogeterp Louden, Registered Kinesiologist at
This presentation will explore practical strategies to help older adults remain in the comfort of their own homes while maintaining safety, independence, and quality of life.
We will begin by looking at key factors in fall prevention, including environmental modifications, mobility support, and daily routines that reduce risk. We’ll discuss how small changes—such as improved lighting, clear pathways, and assistive devices—can make a big impact on safety.
We will also navigate the often complex world of health and home care, outlining available services, how to choose the right level of support, and ways to coordinate care between family, caregivers, and health professionals.
We will touch base on how technology can enhance functional living and independence. From medical alert systems and smart home devices to Medic*tion reminders and remote health monitoring, technology offers new opportunities for staying connected, supported, and safe.
By combining environmental safety, proactive care planning, and innovative tools, we can help older adults thrive at home for longer. This session is designed for caregivers, family members, and professionals who want practical, actionable ideas to support aging in place with dignity, comfort, and peace of mind.
