The ALN Reform in Wales has caused confusion and created more barriers to children receiving the support they need.Parents and teachers are left baffled by who does what, and the process is difficult to navigate; not to mention costly! With funds being cut in all local authorities there has never been a more important time for parents and professionals to come together to understand the rights of children with additional learning needs - and what part they must play in order to achieve the best outcomes for our children.
We are here to de-bunk the myths and set the record straight in our workshop dedicated to IDPs and ALN law.
This workshop, 2 hours in length, is designed for parents and professionals alike. We aim to cover:
The Law and relevant legislation
Who can apply for a statutory assessment
How to apply for a statutory assessment
The 'application and assessment process' flowchart
Appeals and tribunals
Local education authority assessments
Private assessments
The myths Vs the truths
Responsibilities of the provision (nursery, school, college, AP etc)
Different types of education
Pre-action and judicial review
Managing the IDP (annual reviews)
We will also be on hand to answer your questions.
The workshop is ticketed, you must have a ticket in order to attend. Advance booking is required.
Refreshments and snacks will be available. Accessible parking is available on site. Standard parking is available on the road outside Cynon Linc for 2 hours or you can park at Aberdare Library (please adhere to ticketing rules within the carpark).
