Join us for a Cultural Arts Centre Daycation and learn How Things Are Made! Your daycation begins with a Millinery demo with Rose Monzyk in her home. For more than 20 years Rose has designed headwear for ladies across the United States. Her work can be found online and at Silver Dollar City, Georgia, and she also hosts Trunk Shows around the area.
Enjoy lunch at Hawthorne Inn, serving award winning food for 20 years and consistently voted the area's favorite restaurant. Guests will have a limited menu to choose from.
After lunch, you will visit the Washington Historical Society Museum and enjoy a docent tour of the museum which tells the history of Washington, MO from corn cob pipes to zithers and everything in between, including artifacts from the Native American, World Ware I and II and furnishings and items used in daily life. Plus, enjoy a private zither performance by the Schwarzer Zither Ensemble!
Your final stop of the day is a visit to the MO Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipe Museum-Learn about the 150+ years of the history of cool-smoking corn cob pipes and the Missouri Meerschaum Company's important role in all of it. You'll see history com alive right before your eyes in the one-of-a-kind collection of correspondence and documents highlighting famous US military and literary personalities who used and enjoyed the pipes. NOTE: The Meerschaum Corn Cob Pope Museum is NOT Handicap Accessible.
