Meet the panelists
is the co-founder of The Pie Shoppe, located in East Vancouver. After training as a chef at Ottawa’s Algonquin College, Stephanie French moved to Vancouver in 2007 to pursue painting and ceramics at Emily Carr University. She opened the Pie Shoppe in 2012 with her sister Andrea after they longed for one thing from back home in Ottawa: the artisanal bakeries of nearby Gatineau, Quebec. At the core of the business are the seasonal small-batch pies, using locally milled organic flours, butter and H2O for the pastry, a few free-range eggs, cream, sugar and spice for custard, and a little seasonal fruit macerated in a zest of citrus with a pinch of sweetness. The Pie Shoppe is a family-run neighbourhood gem.
