About this Event
Methods Cafe: How Community Engagement Centers Support Humanities and Research. Workshop will be offered in person and online via Zoom.
Community engagement centers and their roles at research intensive universities are receiving increasing attention. What are the different ways that such centers can support academic researchers and teachers in their work? In this workshop, participants will learn how UROC can serve to help build trusted relationships for academic research and creative works in the humanities. First, participants will learn how the impact and dissemination of two participatory frameworks (group concept mapping and photovoice) were enhanced by working with community partners in trusted spaces. Participants will then engage with UROC affiliate faculty at the U to learn about their methods and how UROC supported their projects, community relationships, and dissemination strategies. This workshop is open to all, and aimed to educate faculty, staff, and community partners who are interested in academic-university partnerships.
Refreshments and light snacks provided. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested.
