Last spring, the senior high youth went on a service trip to the Navajo Nation to meet and learn from the Dineh. One of their most important lessons was that it is bearing witness, not performing labor, that is most valuable to the Dineh people. Come be the next ripple in the pond of this witnessing as you hear the stories of our youth this Sunday. They will share about the culture, history, and current challenges of the Dineh people as they explore the question “How Are We Changed?” by what they learned. This Sunday we joyfully welcome our new acting director of music, Sarah Hager! The Sanctuary Choir will lift their voices in Franz Joseph Haydn’s exhilarating “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” (from Heiligmesse, Hob.XXII:10) and Brian Tate’s vibrant, movement-filled “Connected.” For the offertory, Chelsea Cannon, Janice Chung, Mary Edelmann, Elisabeth Jas, Erin Lashway, Toni Tasker, and Cammy Thomas will join together to sing Susan LaBarr’s deeply moving “Where the Light Begins.” And as a special gift of inspiration, Sarah will play Johann Sebastian Bach’s lyrical “Prelude in G Major” (from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Part 2) as centering music, and bring the service to a powerful close with Craig Philips’ exhilarating organ work “Epilogue” (from Suite Breve).
