Dallas native vocalist and 3-time Grammy nominee and winner of an NAACP Image Award Jazzmeia Horn returns to DACAMERA on the heels of her latest triumph the Grammy-nominated Dear Love.

Blessed with a fitting name for her chosen path—it was Horn’s jazz-loving piano-playing grandmother who chose “Jazzmeia”—the singer was born in Dallas and attended Booker T. Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts. In 2013 she entered and won a Newark-based contest named for an initial inspiration — the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition. In 2015 she won the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition. Her first two recordings A Social Call and Love and Liberation each garnered Grammy nominations in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category.

“Without a doubt among the jazz world’s most exciting young vocalists…her sound is explosive and bright and rich catnip for audiences looking for boldness that’s still traditional.” — Billboard

“Jazzmeia Horn harbors both astounding technique and an acute artistic vision…Horn has a thrilling presence with a musical sensibility that strikes a deft balance between mid-century jazz and contemporary neo-soul.” — DownBeat
