Using historical and present-day examples, this event outlines the political forces that shaped today's housing system and what change could look like moving forward. Introduced by Daniel Moak, Associate Professor of Government and author of From the New Deal to the War on Schools: Race, Inequality, and the Rise of the Punitive Education State (2022).
This event is part of "Housing Plus: How Better Housing Connects to Everything," a year-long series of public conversations brings together prominent scholars, practitioners, advocates, and community members to discuss the role of better housing in strengthening community life in all its aspects. "Housing Plus" is part of "We Live Here New London," an exhibit examining the history and present-day realities of the housing crisis in America, presented by Connecticut College and the Center for Housing Opportunity Eastern Connecticut.
This event will be held in Olivia Hall at the Cummings Art Center in Connecticut College.
