Positive Steps Consulting has a long and exceptional history of event planning and delivering high quality and cost-effective professional development opportunities to health and human services providers across the United States. Together, with Partners in Community Development (PICD), our nonprofit partner focused affordable housing wrap around services for children and families and employment readiness, have facilitated several community events across NY State focused on mental health equity in communities of color. Their support has complimented the long-standing success of the Housing and Support Services Conference, which has convened hundreds of professionals to learn, network, and engage in deliberate discussions offering new ideas and best practices models. This is the 15th year in hosting the highly attended Housing and Support Services Conference, which will once again, take place in beautiful Niagara Falls, NY.

The conference will be held November 13-14, 2024. This year’s theme is, “Beyond the Basics: Creating Systems and Services for Affordable, Safe, and Quality Housing for All.”
As we face unprecedented times, the opportunity to elevate the voices of underserved communities is greater than ever. All individuals and families need stable housing to survive and thrive. Housing provides a foundation, however, going beyond the basics of a “roof” to ensure individuals and families have access to affordable, safe, and quality housing and services is key for self-sufficiency and success.

The conference will offer a variety of workshops with expert speakers from across NYS, PA, NJ and beyond. Workshops will include a variety of topics including housing, care management, program development, healthcare, public policy, property management, behavioral health, peer services, residential, and other supportive services.

There will be clinical workshops offering CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for attendees and a specialized track for supervision and leadership.

Conference Goals and Objectives:

• Present strategies for increasing and advancing the Development of Affordable Supportive Housing models
• Improve organizational capacity to effectively address basic needs including housing, food insecurity, violence prevention and other social determinants of health
• Improve opportunities to advance Health Equity across supportive housing and residential programs
• Promote emerging practices for organizational and programmatic changes to address structural racism and disparities within housing and residential services
• Promote person centered, trauma informed and culturally competent engagement strategies
• Present innovative models of collaborative successful partnerships between property management organizations and social service providers for high service needs populations
• Provide a forum to build collaborative partnerships for planning on key emerging issues across supportive housing and residential programs.
• Promote employment and self-sufficiency within supportive and affordable housing programs
• Offer supervision and leadership workshops for new and experienced leaders to further advance supervisory and leadership skills
• Offer cost-effective professional development opportunities and continuing education and training hours
