The Spring Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Drop-off Event will take place on Saturday, April 24h from 9 AM - 2 PM at the Cedar Falls Public Works Complex - located at 2200 Technology Parkway in Cedar Falls (due to construction at the Waterloo site). Masks are to be worn by all participants.
The Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission is collaborating with the City of Cedar Falls, the City of Waterloo, and the Waste Trac Education Team to sponsor this drop-off event for Black Hawk County residents to safely manage hazardous materials and electronics from their homes and garages (some fees may apply).

What to bring:
- Household items such as lawn chemicals, **batteries (all varieties - except Alkaline), fluorescent light bulbs (compact and tube), propane tanks, old gasoline, mercury thermometers, clogged aerosol cans (including aerosol spray paint), and much more will be accepted from residents for safe disposal.
- Flat panel TVs and computer monitors, computer accessories, game systems, vacuums, VCR/DVD players, radios, holiday lights, tabletop/floor lamps, and more will be recycled at no cost. All hard drives will be shredded after the event.
- Each vehicle/household can recycle two Cathode Ray Tube containing (not flat panel) computer monitors/televisions for free. Additional CRTs are $5 each. CRTs are in older TVs and computer monitors with a big bump in the back. Please bring exact cash only. Bills larger than $20 will not be accepted.

**NOT ACCEPTED at this event. Visit https://wastetrac.org/faqs/ about options for:
- Paint
- Laundry detergents, soaps, cosmetics, and medications
- Alkaline batteries
- Automotive oils, oil filters, and antifreeze
- Grills, lawn mowers, tires, furniture, or non-hazardous waste
- Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, radioactive materials, asbestos, or ammunition
- Any container larger than 5 gallons (no drums)
- Appliances (including microwaves, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, water heaters, refrigerators, etc.)
- Items from schools, businesses, farms, churches, non-profits, or governmental entities. Several vendors have routes locally to assist with business related materials. Visit https://wastetrac.org/category/wastes-and-recycle/business/.
Although not accepted at this event - tires, furniture, carpet, grills, and appliances can be taken to the Black Hawk County Sanitary Landfill (https://wastetrac.org/hours-of-operation/), or contact your city about their bulk item policy (https://wastetrac.org/city-services/). Contact a local scrap metal company (metal items only).

What to do:
- Masks are to be worn by all participants.
- On the day of the event, follow the event signs from the corner of Hudson Road and Technology Parkway to the gated entrance of the drive-through drop-off location.
- Approximately 60 volunteers will be on hand to help unload items, direct traffic, survey participants, and make this event run efficiently. For safety reasons, you must stay in your vehicle.
- Event entrance gate will close promptly at 2 PM. Please plan to arrive accordingly to ensure your items will be accepted.
