The City of Avondale is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste, Document Shredding and Prescription Drug Take-Back event for residents to dispose of household hazardous waste, sensitive documents, and unused prescription drugs safely and securely.The event will take place at the Avondale Civic Center Complex, 11465 Civic Center Drive, Avondale, AZ 85323. Vehicles will be directed to enter at Coldwater Springs Blvd.
Participants will remain in their vehicles throughout the event and will be directed through three designated stations. All items for disposal, including hazardous waste, documents, and prescription drugs, should be placed in the trunk or truck bed before arriving at the event.
Event Features:
Household Hazardous Waste Collection:
• Residential waste only (proof of residency required – utility bill or ID)

Shred-A-Thon (Document Shredding):
• Paper only (no binders or binder clips)
• Limit of five boxes per vehicle
Prescription Drug Take-Back:
• Anonymous drop-off of pills, capsules, tablets, and liquid medications.
• Ensure liquid medication caps are tightly sealed.
• Items NOT accepted: Intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes, marijuana or illicit substances (e.g. methamphetamine).
This event provides a convenient way for Avondale residents to protect their homes, environment, and community by responsibly disposing of potentially harmful items. It also supports efforts to prevent misuse of prescription drugs through safe disposal methods.
