Sydney’s favourite queer collective hits the dancefloor with two glittering nights of international guest starsNo one throws a party quite like House of Mince. Inspired by the legendary rave scene and iconic clubs like Berghain, the Sydney dance music collective has transformed the city’s party scene, delivering unforgettable nights at venues that range from sweaty Marrickville warehouses to slick inner-city nightclubs and even Sydney Tower. With an impeccable crew of DJs and an inclusive, communal vibe, House of Mince have been bringing a diverse crowd of ravers for more than a decade.
After a wild birthday celebration in 2023, the beloved queer collective returns to the Sydney Opera House Studio across two dazzling nights for this year’s Vivid LIVE. The first night will feature Venezuelan-born, Berlin-based star DJ Hyperaktivist, while the second grooves to the cosmic sound of New York Afro-futurists The Illustrious Blacks.
Come and lose yourself in the euphoria of one of Sydney’s greatest queer dance parties.
FRI 24 MAY
House of Mince presents Club Mince feat. Hyperaktivist (Mala Junta / MESS) & more
Venezuelan-born artist Hyperaktivist has become a huge draw in her adopted hometown Berlin, where her characteristically energetic sets – drawing on her tribal euphoric sounds and her Latin American roots – have resulted in a huge shift in the sound of the city’s scene. As a queer activist, she runs a pair of vital, community-focused clubs nights: MESS (Mindful Electronic Sonic Selections) celebrates femme and queer artists from culturally diverse backgrounds, while Mala Junta is regarded as one of Berlin’s fiercest underground queer techno parties.
SUN 26 MAY
House of Mince presents Pavolvabar feat. The Illustrious Blacks (Defected / Classic Music Company) & more
With their ethereal vocals and otherworldly sound, Monstah Black and Manchildblack – collectively known as The Illustrious Blacks – are a New York duo with roots somewhere in the outer cosmos. Their irresistibly glam cocktail of electro, disco, punk and Afro-futurism embraces everything from future funk to hypnotic house and synth pop.
