HOUSE of LUX Samhain Festival - N'famady Koyate plus guests ar Ty Pawb, Wrexham.Saturday 2nd November 2024
Following on from last year's successful event HOUSE of LUX are proud to present their Samhain Festival where they invite artists from all over the world to celebrate in their celtic traditions over two stages in everybody's house.
Performance space headliner - N' Famady Koyate.
Cardiff based N'famady Kouyaté has been building an enthusiastic UK audience with his unique musical style since he relocated to Wales from Guinea in 2019. His primary instrument is the balafon – a traditional wooden xylophone, sacred to West African culture and his family heritage of the griot/djeli, and he fronts an indie/jazz band. N'famady’s music is a blend of his West African heritage and western musical influences from the likes of Super Furry Animals, The Flaming Lips and 9Bach. His performances create vibrant & joyous atmospheres that are fuelled by his charisma and charm onstage, wielding balafon & guitar throughout the show with a masterful ease. Since coming to the UK, N’famady has been playing and touring extensively, with highlights being festival shows at Focus Wales, The Great Escape, Celtic Connections, SXSW, Latitude main stage and many more. In 2023 he won the 2023 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition, further signalling the bright future of this rising star.
HMS Morris
HMS Morris are a bilingual, award-winning, female-fronted art-rock four-piece from Cardiff, Wales. Supported by the esteemed Bubblewrap Collective (Georgia Ruth, Boy Azooga, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzzard, Sweet Baboo), they've already released two critically acclaimed albums, 'Interior Design' and 'Inspirational Talks,' both Welsh Music Prize nominees and variously described as ‘Innovative, forward thinking pop music’ (Earthly Pleasures), ‘strange and beautiful music’ (Electronic Sound) and a 'multi-dimensional sound that traipses across hitherto unexplored regions of sound' (Clash)’. They've earned a reputation for their innovative and multi-dimensional sound that pushes boundaries and explores uncharted territories.
Now, they are gearing up for the highly anticipated release of their third studio album, 'Dollar Lizard Money Zombie,' on September 15th this year. It is a playful repudiation of the worldview that reduces 99% of us to braindead money zombies, labouring for the glorious empires of a few giant dollar lizards. It is the first HMS album to feature Billy Morley and Iestyn Huw Jones on guitar and drums, and ranges from 50s cowboy sweetness to electro-metal madness, from rambling acoustic prog to the tightest of synth-pop ditties. The album takes listeners on a thought-provoking journey, infused with the band's signature wit and humour, showcasing their ability to blend profound introspection with lighthearted storytelling.
Their mesmerising live performances have delighted audiences across the globe, gracing renowned festivals like Green Man, Glastonbury, Sŵn, Suns and Pop Montreal. Sharing the stage with acclaimed artists like Melin Melyn, Another Sky, Wooze, Songhoy Blues and Tricot, they leave a lasting impact on fans and fellow musicians alike.
With undeniable talent, dedication to their craft, and a growing international presence, HMS Morris offer innovative and forward-thinking pop music that resonates with listeners far and wide. Their latest album, 'Dollar Lizard Money Zombie,' marks a new era for the band, featuring a diverse range of sounds and an infectious energy that will undoubtedly captivate audiences on a whole new level.
