On Top of Everything Else! 😉This Saturday Sept 27th, My Band Logo "Mestizo - Classic Latin Rock" and My Image on Drums along with other Inductees will be added to the "Casa Bandido" "House of Latin Rocks" Mural with the ceremony begining at 11am.
This is a free event, the location is the corner of 2880 25th St in San Francisco at York St. Please bring a lounge chair as no seating is provided and it is an outdoor event ( block party )
This is truly an honor and a cap to what has been an exciting year for my film work, becoming a SAG/AFTRA Board Member, and the recent, super sucessful "Final Final" performance of Mestizo at Club Fox.
Other Inductees include Malo and Sapo's Richard Bean, Kevin AJ Black and several more. This will be a Great Day!
I grew up in The City as as a teenager was influenced as many by our homegrown Latin Rock sound created here in The Mission District. Eventually meeting up with and forming many bands throughout the years and meeting and playing with so many great musicians including those I looked up to, ultimately leading to the creation of "Mestizo" with whom without it's members over the years, this would not have been possible!
Mestizo was the first of it's kind back in 95" the concept was to bring back the sound that we grew up with and went to see back in the late 60's and 70's but to do it in a "big way" with a full 13pc band and a male and female vocalist. We happened to hit at the right time as Latin Rock was making a comeback, here especially with the help of Dr. Rock and his local and annual events.
My compadre John Rodriguez and I spent many many hours compiling lists of songs of your memories and being very selective about the songs we chose for both rememberance and dancibility! memory jogging! for those of you that know! Malo, Sapo, Azteca, War, of course Santana were the foremost, but so many more of the era including titiles like K-Gee, Funky Nassau, I Wish You Love, Brujaria and so many many more on a rotatiing basis.
Dr.Rock deemed us after selling out "Slims" - "The Latin Rock Jukebox" because you never knew what we would play! ( I did! ) 😆
