About this Event
We welcome you to Hounslow Connects, a creative evening of networking, art appreciation and building bridges with like-minded creatives, community groups and more. For the latest instalment of our networking series Hounslow Connects has partnered up with the incredible SHEWISE, a community-led charity, dedicated to empowering marginalised, minority ethnic women and young girls, particularly from South Asian and Middle Eastern communities. They provide support to women facing multiple challenges, including all forms of gender-based violence, domestic abuse, wellbeing, skills development, enterprise support, youth empowerment, and assistance for those involved with the Pr*son and criminal justice system.
As part of their initiative, Domestic Abuse Through the Lens of Creative Expression, SHEWISE will present ‘A Thousand Cuts’—their internationally celebrated, award-winning exhibition curated by the artist Sujata Setia. Alongside it, they’ll showcase their inspiring earlier exhibition,’ I Am Enough’. This powerful Exhibition aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse and inspire change within South Asian and Middle Eastern communities through the transformative power of art.
Also on the evening, we’re honoured to have Hounslow based artist Nour Abida exhibit a range of her water-colour artwork, exploring themes of beauty, home and storytelling from her exhibition ‘Invitation to The Voyage’ and to help set the mood and atmosphere we’ll have DJ AVS on the decks, as well as a special musical performance by Nush. As we aim to grow and build out Hounslow’s cultural and creative landscape, we hope you’ll join us for this special evening and support the exhibitors and creatives on show. Welcome snacks will be provided and additional food and beverage can be purchased at the bar – we look forward to welcoming you!
