About this Event
Hell On The Humber is an endurance event series like no other, and each year on the third weekend in August (otherwise known as HOTH weekend), hundreds of runners and walkers from across the UK and Europe descend on the world famous Humber Bridge to test themselves in running, walking, shuffling, and crawling over it.

HOTH includes Day and NIGHT races, and if we can guarantee one thing, it's that you'll get all seasons while you're up on the bridge in the dark. We're also pretty sure that there'll be no sunrise more beautiful than the one that heralds the end of your race after a night in hell... Bring a tent, bring all your kit, and bring a sense of humour. This one is going to mess with your head!
The Ouzo - It's here to stay!
The Ouzo is the 20kg weighted version of the races that sees participants carry a 20kg pack for the duration of the 12 Hour HOTH event (all usual HOTH rules still apply!).
About HOTH
You don't have to be an Ultra runner to take part in the HOTH Event Series, though many experienced long distance runners from across the country do return to the event year after year and rack up some impressive distances. You don't even have to be a runner to take part, walkers are always welcome. All we ask is that you complete the minimum number of laps, you're 18 or over for the 12 hour races and 16 and over for the 6 hour (under 18's require parental consent), and that you be part of the event with the right attitude, that being one of enjoyment, personal challenge, inclusion, and support. Egos aren't welcome. Every finisher receives the coveted finisher's shirt, and there's also a very bling finisher's medal!
Charity Runners
Many HOTH runners take part in the events to raise much needed funds for charities and good causes, and we encourage this and support the runners where possible. Unfortunately, we're not able to offer any free races for these charity runners, as all of our free charity places are currently donated to the Ellie Penrose Fund. The fund is a charity set up by the family of Ellie Penrose, a close friend, HOTH crew member and runner, and the youngest ever HOTH competitor, to allow them to support young people in their sporting endeavours. The number of HOTH GRAND SLAM Event entries is strictly LIMITED to just 20, and once sold out, participants will have to enter individual races without the Grand Slam discount.
Disclaimer
While all event dates are agreed in principle approximately one year in advance, they retain their provisional status due to the nature of the course. It is possible that urgent engineering works or other unforseen challenges may force the bridge management to ask us to reschedule. Should this highly unlikely scenario take place, the event will be rescheduled to the next available date in the same year, and all entries will be moved to this event.
Furthermore, as we experienced through the Covid restrictions of 2020 & 2021, we're not immune to global, national, or local events which can prevent the race from going ahead. Where this is the case, all entries will be deferred to a future race, or offered in exchange for virtual race entries.
Due to the costs incurred throughout the event planning phase, HOTH has a strict no refund policy.
