Alex Chadsey (Keyboard), fluent in jazz and classical forms, arrived in Seattle with music degree in hand, wondering which direction to go next. After initially playing in Salsa bands, Chadsey’s creative output changed dramatically, coming together in 2016 as a trio project Duende Libre. Their self-titled debut album distills years of performing, apprenticing with master musicians, and crafting originals that explore Latin elements in new contexts. The results are savvy and grooving, reflecting the Seattle scenes Chadsey inhabits and loves, where Uzbek bassists and Jamaican poets and border-crossing fandangos power musical visions.

Farko Dosumov (Bass) was born and raised in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Farko and his identical twin Feodor began playing the classical guitar when they were ten years old. After winning the green card lottery in 1999 Farko moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. Farko later attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle and specialized in jazz bass. Since then, he has played with many talented artists and groups throughout the world: Feodor Dosumov, Michael Shrieve’s Spellbinder, Carlos Santana, Jonny Lang, Roger Fisher(Heart), Lee Oscar, Joe Doria, Danny Godinez Band, James Howard Band, Randy Oxford Band, Brooke Lizotte, Istvan Rez, Jazzukha, Pura Fe, Tetrabox, Acoustic Fantasy, Marriott Brothers, Flowmotion and others.

Jeff Busch (Percussion)is an exuberant drummer/percussionist, vocalist, and composer whose passion for soulful music of varied traditions has led him to perform with jazz, blues, and gospel groups--as well as calypso, samba, and Cuban jazz ensembles. Between 1988-96, Jeff studied fine art, and music in Leeds, England. He studied percussion and drum set with Dave Hassel, calypso with steel drum master Dudley Nesbitt, and later Brazilian percussion with Jesse Bannister. In 1997, Jeff spent six months in Brazil and studied with a variety of percussionists. Currently Jeff continues to perform with a variety of groups in the Seattle area in addition to Duende Libre, including the Jovino Santos Neto quinteto; Cuban jazz groups Rumba Abierta, and Tumbao and Cuban dance band Mango Son.

Frank Anderson (Vocals) warm tenor voice and original renditions of jazz, R&B, blues and gospel songs from the 30s to the early-70s offer an eclectic range of soul-satisfying music. A Seattle native, Frank has been performing as a dancer, percussionist and R&B vocalist since 1986. You can usually catch Frank with many of Seattle’s top musicians at Seattle clubs such as Capitol Cider, Egan's and North City Bistro.

Chava Mirel (Vocalist & Multi-Instrumentalist) has been featured vocalist for Duende Libre, whose album “Drift” was the recipient of the Golden Ear Award for Best Recording in the Northwest. Performing in Folk, World Music, Jazz and other genres, she imbues her music with the universal themes of hope, caring, connection, inclusion, and womens and environmental issues. Chava is known for her rich, luxurious vocals, lush harmonies, and rhythmic phrasing.

Jazziz called Duende’s music “a strikingly authentic blend”

"Duende Libre is aural balm for the soul, medicine that goes down easy, and will leave you healed in both body and spirit. Daily use is recommended ."(Earshot Jazz)
