“The Great Scouring”
A Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, 2nd edition; Teams Event
Welcome to the Horus Heresy; where you will lead your forces in the battles that will decide its fate.
This event is for the tabletop game, Warhammer: The Horus Heresy (This is NOT a Warhammer: 40,000 event.)
The event will deploy Loyalists against Traitors on balanced, yet thematic battlefields; inspired by the lore of the Horus Heresy’s Great Scouring.
EVENT OVERVIEW
There will be two factions: Loyalists, and Traitors.
⁃ If the sides are not equal in the number of attending players, before beginning the 1st battles of the event, we will ask for volunteers to join one side or another to balance the numbers between the two factions.
Each battle will consist of four players, 2 Loyalists vs 2 Traitors.
⁃ The players will be paired up at random; this will help introduce more Horus Heresy players to each other and help build a stronger community.
⁃ Also, team games are the most fun!
At the end of the event, the faction (Loyalists or Traitors) with the most victories will be proclaimed the winner!
EVENT DETAILS
⁃ The event welcomes both beginners, as well as long time players of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, 2nd edition.
⁃ Each player can field up to a 1250pt army using the Crusade Detachment, including 0-1 Allied detachment.
⁃ Each player will play in 2 games during the event.
⁃ An overview of the missions can be seen below. All the missions for the games will be from the Beta-Garmon Supplement, and copies of them will be available at the event for reference.
⁃ Importantly, this is an event to have fun and connect with other people who share a mutual interest in Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.
⁃ This is not a competitive tournament, but rather, a gaming event aimed at bringing together a larger community who enjoys the “Warhammer: The Horus Heresy”, tabletop game and novels.

⁃ The second game will begin at 16:00 and go until 18:45.
⁃ The players of each game will be announced 10min prior to the game beginning.
⁃ A brief wrap-up announcement will follow the second game, to end the event; proclaiming either a Loyalist or Traitor Victory!

HORUS HERESY “THE GREAT SCOURING” MISSION PACK
*Use of the word “Side” is in reference to a team of players, playing either as Traitors or Loyalists.
MISSION GENERATOR
Roll 1d6 and consult the chart below:
- 1-2 : The Crucible of War
- 3-4 : Sudden Strike
- 5-6 : Take and Hold
*See attached missions for details:
DEPLOYMENT ZONES
- All missions will use the “Dawn of War” Deployment
MULTIPLAYER REACTIONS
- A single reaction per phase is granted to each side and is shared by all players on that side.
- If a player’s Warlord grants an additional reaction, it can only be used by that player and cannot be used by other players on their side.
NIGHT FIGHTING
- Before any models are deployed, the side with Strategic Advantage can decide if there will be Night Fighting (If Night Fighting is chosen, it will be in effect for the entirety of Turn 1. Furthermore, at the beginning of Turn 2, have the player with Strategic Advantage Roll 1d6, if the roll is a 4+ Night Fighting is also in effect for the entirety of Turn 2.)
SUDDEN DEATH
- If at the end of an active side’s Game Turn their side has no models on the battlefield, the battle immediately ends regardless of the number of turns that have been played.
- Models that are in Reserves do not count as being ‘on the battlefield’, however models in a unit that is Falling Back, or Embarked in a model with the Transport Sub-Type or Embarked in a Building or Fortification do still count as being ‘on the battlefield’.
- If a battle is ended due to the Sudden Death Rule, the side that still has models on the battlefield scores 1 additional Victory Point + 1 Victory Point for each of their turns remaining in the game.
- If a battle is ended due to the Sudden Death rule, which side wins is still decided by the amount of Victory Points scored up to that point in the battle + any post game Victory Points earned.
MISSION SECONDARIES
Slay The Warlord
- if a player causes an enemy’s Warlord to be removed as a casualty (units who fall back off the battlefield count as casualties) before the end of a battle, that player’s side scores 1 Victory Point.
First Blood:
- During their First Turn as Active Player, If a side causes all models of at least one enemy unit to be removed as casualties (units who fall back off the battlefield count as casualties), then that side gains 1 Victory Point (destroying multiple enemy units in turn 1 does not grant multiple victory points from First Blood.)
Last Man Standing:
- If at the end of the battle, one side has more units on the battlefield (which are not Falling Back) then the other, that side gains 1 Victory Point.
K*ll Them All:
- If at the end of the battle, one side has removed more units from the battlefield than the other, that side gains 1 Victory Point.
